1983 Shelby Dodge Charger- SOLD!!!!! |
|||
1983 Shelby Dodge Charger, as raced in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) professional racing stock (RS) series for sub-compact sedans, sponsored by Champion Spark Plug. This car was campaigned by Joe Varde in the ProFormance Class for FWD cars. This car was the only American FWD car to place first overall in the history of the RS series when it won in April 1983 at Road Atlanta. Varde and the Shelby Charger followed that up with additional wins in a bid for the championship. This is a carefully reworked full race chassis for maximum performance in accordance with IMSA regulations. And, as a factory supported racer, it is one of the most highly modified, fastest FWD road racers built. See Mopar 2.2 / FWD book (p/n P4452792) page 303 for specs and details. I purchased this racecar 10 years ago for it’s historical significance, and for the possibility of racing it in a historical series. The car has been garaged for the complete 10 years. I have not had the time to pursue racing it. So, I have now decided to part with it to a good home. The engine is currently fitted with Webber side drafts, but I have an original Shelby manifold, still in the box, for taking it back to original configuration. There is a complete rebuilt spare engine, and lots of other spares, see photos. The engine has not been turned over in the past 5 years. Transmission carries an SMP "special machined part" number via the Dodge Racers Net program. Wheels are lightweight MOMO, and seven are included. Tires are Goodyear racing slicks, but are old. The car needs a good “going through” to sort out the long storage.SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!!! |
